Storykindly — Terms of Service (for the buyer)

Last updated: 2026-10-27 · Terms version: 1.0 · Language: English

1. Who we are

Storykindly (the "Service") is provided by Intelligence EOOD (Интелиджънс ЕООД), a company registered in Bulgaria, UIC 206997580, registered office bl. 428, entr. V, apt. 42, Lyulin residential district, Lyulin district, Sofia 1359, VAT No. BG206997580, trading as Decido Labs ("we", "us", "our"). Contact: support@storykindly.com.

These Terms apply when you buy a Storykindly book on storykindly.com. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy and our Refund Policy. By continuing to payment you agree to these Terms.

We do not sell to customers in the United Kingdom. If you are in the United Kingdom, please do not order; if a payment from the United Kingdom reaches us anyway, we refund it in full.

2. What the Service is

  • Storykindly is a short course of questions for one person — the storyteller — who answers in writing on a private web page. Their answers become the chapters of a memory book, delivered as a PDF (A5).
  • You are the buyer. You may buy for someone else (a gift) or for yourself. If you buy for yourself, you are also the storyteller and there is no invitation step.
  • Your storyteller's own words. Each answer is lightly edited with AI (grammar, repetition, order, paragraphs). The edit is not meant to change the storyteller's voice, and it must not add any fact or name the storyteller did not write. Automated checks compare every edited chapter with the original answer. No person at Storykindly reads, writes or edits the answers or the book.
  • The storyteller decides. They approve every chapter, or choose their own original words, or leave an answer out. Before the book is made, they check the spelling of the names and approve the whole book.
  • If an edited chapter does not pass our automated checks, the chapter uses the storyteller's original words, with paragraphs. We never show an unchecked edited chapter.
  • We do not promise a number of pages. The length of the book depends on how much the storyteller writes and how many answers they approve.
  • The Service is not counselling, therapy, or medical, legal or other professional advice.
  • What you are buying. The Service is a course delivered over several weeks (the invitation, the questions and the chapter pages), and the book is the digital content that results from it. Because the course takes time, your 14-day right to cancel runs from your payment and gives you a full refund for any reason, whatever has happened in the course by then (Section 9).

3. Who can buy, and who can be a storyteller

  • You must be 18 or older and buy for personal, non-commercial use (for yourself or as a gift to someone close to you).
  • We do not sell to businesses or to people buying on behalf of a business (for example care homes, hospices, nursing services, event or gift companies), and the Service may not be resold.
  • The storyteller must be an adult who decides for themselves. Before payment you confirm that the person you name is an adult and can decide for themselves whether to take part. You cannot agree to anything on their behalf: they read their own terms and give their own consent the first time they open the invitation. If they say no, you get a full refund (Section 9).
  • Please only give us the storyteller's first name and an email address they use and would expect to receive a gift at.

4. How it works, and when

StepWhat happens
OrderYou choose the book size, the book language, the storyteller's first name and email, and a start date: any day from today up to 30 days ahead.
Gift cardFor a gift, you can download a printable gift card (PDF) after payment, and we email you a link to your order status page.
InvitationOn the start date (never before payment) we email the storyteller an invitation. They have 14 days to accept it; we send at most 2 reminders.
QuestionsThe storyteller receives 10 or 20 questions depending on the book size, about one every 2–3 days. They can change the pace (from one to three a week), skip a question, pause, or swap a question for another one (up to 3 times per course). Answers are written text, up to 5,000 characters each.
ChaptersEach answer becomes a chapter as described in Section 2. The storyteller approves it, uses their original words, or leaves it out.
FinishThe course ends when all questions are answered, when the storyteller chooses to finish early (possible once 3 chapters are approved), or at the deadline: the start date + 8 weeks. The storyteller checks the names and approves the book.
BookThe book is made from the approved chapters and emailed (as a link to the book page) to both of you.

Voice recordings and photos are not part of the Service at this time.

5. What you see, and what the storyteller controls

  • Until the storyteller shares, you see progress only (for example "7 of 20 answered"). You do not see their answers.
  • The storyteller may choose to share chapters as they go; you then see only the chapters they shared.
  • An answer the storyteller left out is never shown to you and never goes into the book.
  • You receive the book only after the storyteller approves it. The only exception: if the storyteller chose in advance, when they joined, that their approved chapters may go to you if they cannot finish, and a close relative later tells us (with a document) that the storyteller has died or can no longer continue, we make a book from the chapters they had already approved.
  • The storyteller can pause, stop answering, or delete everything at any time. Their consent is theirs to give and to withdraw.
  • If the storyteller says no to the invitation, or does not accept it within 14 days, we tell you that the invitation was not accepted (without details) and refund you in full.

6. What happens if the storyteller stops

Once the storyteller has accepted the invitation, the book is made from the chapters they approved, however many there are. If they stop answering, the course ends at the deadline and we make the book from the approved chapters; this is not a ground for a refund on its own. If there is not a single approved chapter at the deadline — for example because the storyteller deleted everything before approving any chapter — we refund you in full.

7. AI editing, automated checks and limits

  • Each answer can be edited with AI up to 3 times (the first edit plus up to two "Rewrite my answer" requests). After that, the storyteller can still correct the chapter by hand or use their original words.
  • To keep the Service working, there are fair-use limits on how often answers and other actions can be sent, and a limit on AI processing per order. When a limit is reached, the order continues and the book is still delivered — new chapters then use the storyteller's own words ("We kept your own words").
  • Automated checks reduce mistakes but cannot rule them out. The storyteller checks every chapter and every name before the book is made, and we ask you to read the book too.

8. Prices and payment

  • Prices are shown before you pay. One-time payment — no subscription and no automatic renewal.
  • All prices shown include VAT where it applies; the price you see is the price you pay.
  • Payments are processed through Stripe Managed Payments. Link, a Stripe company, is the merchant of record for your purchase: it charges your payment method, issues your receipt and handles sales tax or VAT where it applies. Your contract for the book course itself — the invitation, the questions, the chapters, the book, refunds and your consumer rights — is with us under these Terms, and we remain responsible for it. Link's own terms and privacy policy also apply to the payment.
  • **Your statement will show "LINK.COM\*"** — that is Link, our payment partner. We never see your full card number.

9. Your right to cancel (withdrawal)

  • Right after payment we email you a confirmation with your order details, what you confirmed before payment, and the full text of these Terms and of the Refund Policy. The invitation to the storyteller is only sent after that email has gone out.
  • You can cancel within 14 days of your payment and get a full refund, for any reason. This applies to every buyer, including gift purchases (the 14 days run from the purchase, not from the start date or the gift).
  • If you choose a start date within those 14 days, we ask you before payment to confirm that you want the Service to start on that date.
  • Cancelling within the 14 days always gives you a full refund, with no deduction for questions already sent, even if the book has already been created.
  • If the 14th day is a Saturday, a Sunday or a public holiday in Bulgaria, you can cancel until the end of the next working day. On your order page there is always a link "Withdraw from the contract here"; it leads to a screen with the button "Confirm withdrawal". We confirm by email, with the date and time, that we received your withdrawal. You can also cancel by email to support@storykindly.com.

Legal basis: Directive 2011/83/EU (right of withdrawal) and the Bulgarian Consumer Protection Act.

10. Refunds

Full details are in our Refund Policy. In short, you get a full refund if: you cancel within 14 days of payment; the storyteller says no to the invitation; the storyteller does not accept the invitation within 14 days; a technical problem on our side means we cannot provide the Service; or no chapter at all is approved by the end of the course. If we cannot send you the order confirmation email described in Section 9 within 24 hours of your payment, we do not send the invitation and we refund you in full — you don't need to ask. Your statutory rights are not affected (Section 11).

Purchases are processed by Link, a Stripe company and the merchant of record for your payment, which has its own buyer refund policy and may refund a purchase itself within 60 days of payment. Where Link's policy gives you more, it applies.

11. Your legal rights, and what we don't promise

Your statutory rights. If you are a consumer, you have legal rights that these Terms do not limit — for example, a service must be performed with reasonable care and skill, and digital content must be as described and fit for purpose (EU: Directive (EU) 2019/770; BG: Закон за предоставянето на цифрово съдържание и цифрови услуги и за продажбата на стоки). The course is a digital service and the book is digital content under those rules. Nothing here affects those rights.

What we don't promise. Beyond your statutory rights, we don't promise:

  • that the storyteller will accept, answer every question or finish the course — that is their choice;
  • a number of chapters or pages;
  • that every chapter is edited — some may stay in the storyteller's own words (Sections 2 and 7);
  • that the book contains no mistakes — automated checks reduce errors, and the storyteller checks names and chapters before approving.

12. The book

  • The storyteller is the author of the answers and the book. We do not claim ownership of either.
  • You receive the book for your personal and family use — to keep, print and share with family and friends.
  • We do not publish books and never use answers or books as examples, for testing, for marketing or to train AI.

13. Personal data

How we handle personal data — yours, the storyteller's and that of people mentioned in the stories — is in our Privacy Policy. In short: the storyteller's answers and chapters are kept until 30 days after the book is delivered, then permanently deleted; they are never used as examples or to train AI; the storyteller can delete everything sooner at any time. Deleting never cancels a refund that is owed to you.

14. Links and security

We send private links by email. A link to the storyteller's pages works for a limited time; a new link can be requested by email. Your order status link works for 30 days after the last event on your order. Please keep links private — anyone with a link can open that page while it is valid.

15. Changes to these Terms

The version you accepted at checkout applies to your order; we record which version that was. A later change applies to your order only if it is in your favour or required by law.

16. Governing law and disputes

  • Please contact us first at support@storykindly.com.
  • These Terms are governed by the laws of Bulgaria. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country of residence (Regulation (EC) 593/2008 "Rome I", Art. 6(2)).
  • EU consumers may bring proceedings in the courts where they live (Regulation (EU) 1215/2012, Arts. 17–18). Otherwise the courts of Sofia, Bulgaria have jurisdiction.
  • Out-of-court resolution: you can turn to the General Conciliation Commission at the Bulgarian Commission for Consumer Protection (Обща помирителна комисия към КЗП, www.kzp.bg); we will take part in good faith. The EU online dispute resolution platform has been closed.

17. Other terms

  • Language. These Terms are available in English. A Bulgarian version will be published; until then, the English text is the one that applies.
  • Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations to another organisation; your rights under these Terms will not be reduced.
  • Severability, no waiver, entire agreement. If a court finds part of these Terms invalid, the rest stays in effect. If we don't enforce a right immediately, we can still enforce it later. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
